UK Postcode utility

This program is a utility designed for use with Map Maker Pro.

To use this utility you must first download the postcode data from the Ordnance Survey web site. The data set that you need is called "Code Point Open". Once you have downloaded this data unzip the data into the location of your choice. The data is in the form of a set of CSV files.

Next, download the postcode utility from here. Unzip this file in the location of your choice. Run the program by double-clicking on the file "MMpostcode.exe". When you first run it you will need to import the raw postcode data. To do this, click on the button labelled "Update postcode database from CodePoint CSV files (select directory)" and when prompted choose the directory containing the CSV files. Wait for the data to be processed.

If your copy of Map Maker Pro is dated earlier than the 22nd April 2010 you should download and install the most recent update in order to use this utility.

Start up Map Maker Pro. Now when you type a legitimate postcode into the utility it will navigate Map Maker Pro to that location and place a marker on the spot.
